Arrange to meet in busy, well-lit public areas such as mall parking lots, petrol stations, or designated police-station safe zones. Never invite a stranger to your home.

Verify the other person’s identity

Ask to see an Emirates ID or driving licence and confirm contact details before proceeding with test drives or negotiations. Genuine buyers and sellers won’t mind.

Never leave your keys with strangers

Always accompany the buyer during test drives, and bring someone with you if you can. Never hand over keys, the car, or documents before the sale is fully completed.

Use secure payment methods

Prefer a verified bank transfer or cash counted in person at a bank. Avoid cheques and never release the vehicle until the funds have fully cleared into your account.

Complete the legal paperwork

Ensure the ownership transfer, receipts and any required RTA/registration forms are properly signed and exchanged at the time of sale. Keep a copy of everything.

Keep conversations on record

Communicate through traceable channels and keep a record of what was agreed. Be wary of anyone who insists on rushing you off-platform or pressuring you to decide instantly.

A price that seems far too good to be true
Pressure to pay a deposit before viewing
Requests to deal entirely off-platform in a rush
Refusal to meet in person or show ID
Payment via untraceable methods or gift cards
Overpayment “by mistake” with a refund request
